UK Historic Inflation and Consumer Price Data |
The historic UK inflation data and consumer price data used to construct the Retail Price Index (RPI) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation measures, comes from the monthly Inflation reports published by the Offices of National Statistics (ONS) Statistical Bulletins. http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/taxonomy/index.html?nscl=Price+Indices+and+Inflation The Consumer Price Index (CPI) have only been published since 1997, before this date the values have been estimated by the ONS and reported as the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) from 1988 to 1997 and as the Indicative HICP index from 1975 to 1988 in the report “Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices: Historical Estimates” Economic Trends No. 541 December 1998.
